Leela – Co-founder & Teacher (Mondays, All Levels)

Originally from Berlin and based in London for over 20 years, Leela brings an infectious sense of humour, a love for light (literally—she’s a professional lighting designer for concerts), and over 15 years of personal yoga practice to her classes.

Her yoga journey began after a back injury, but it was a trip to India with her mum—and the traditional teachings of her teacher Sveta—that truly lit the fire. Yoga has become an important grounding ritual, but aongside asana, Leela is fascinated by Indian mythology and how these ancient stories mirror modern human experiences. She’s equally captivated by how emerging neuroscience overlaps with long-standing yogic wisdom, particularly around breath, perception, and the nervous system.

Leela brings a thoughtful, body-aware approach to her teaching, integrating neuro-biomechanics, breathwork, and creative sequencing into a powerful and playful practice. Her classes are breath-led and empowering, offering challenge with nurture, and structure with space.

Leela’s teaching is inspired by the principle of sthira sukham asanam—the balance of strength and ease—which invites you to celebrate all facets of yourself: the solar and the lunar, structured and the intuitive, the active and the restful, the effort and the ease. It’s a practice that makes space for all of you, on and off the mat. She’s fascinated by the the legends of edges of ability—what she can’t yet do and what that reveals—and after years of resistance, she’s even managed her most challenging her peak pose: savasana.

When she’s not teaching or lighting up stages, you’ll find Leela floating in the sea (or a bathtub, if she must), playing with her son, or enjoying a strong morning coffee while the world is still quiet.

Leela’s trained with inspirational teachers such as: Mandala Yoga with Dulce Hikurina and Shiva Rhea, Neuro-Biomechanics for Yoga and Advanced Assists with Celest Pereira, Pranayama & Breathwork with Laurent Roure, Assisting with Gingi Lee.
