🫶 Slow Is the New Strong: Restorative & Dynamic Yoga to Reset Your Nervous System in Fulham
If you’ve been practising yoga for years—or if you’ve spent a week running on pure adrenaline—you know that not all movement is restorative. Sometimes, what the body truly craves isn’t more intensity, but intentional depth and mindful attention.
At The Yoga Sloth in Parsons Green, Fulham (SW6), our evening classes are designed to guide you beyond the physical postures, cultivating self-awareness, nervous system regulation, and resilience in both body and mind.
🐉 Sloth Dragon Sloth: Dynamic Mindful Movement (Thursdays, 19:30)
Sloth Dragon Sloth is where sustainable strength meets internal exploration. This dynamic yet mindful practice begins with a Yin-style approach, encouraging you to linger in key postures to release deep fascial tension while synchronizing breath with movement.
As we transition into the Dragon sequence, the practice becomes more fluid and dynamic, allowing the body to warm and the mind to anchor fully in the present. Unlike rapid, cardio-focused flows, this class emphasizes slowed strength, improving joint stability, proprioception, and resilience—qualities supported by modern exercise science (Schoenfeld, 2010; McGill, 2015).
To close the class we settle back into yin poses, finding the space for rest and recovery.
This class is not only for beginners, but ideal for the seasoned yogi seeking to deepen their internal engagement, build mindful strength, and reconnect with their body beyond external form.
🌙 Slow Sloth: The Ultimate Act of Self-Care (Fridays, 19:30)
As the week winds down, Slow Sloth offers a non-negotiable act of self-care. Rooted in restorative, slow yoga, this class uses props—blankets, bolsters, and blocks—to fully support the body in passive postures held for several minutes.
The science is clear: supported stillness stimulates the parasympathetic nervous system, the body’s natural “rest and digest” response. Regular practice has been shown to lower cortisol, improve sleep quality, and reduce stress, offering a true reset for the modern nervous system (Gothe et al., 2019).
Slow Sloth is a sanctuary for anyone living in London’s constant “fight or flight” pace—a space to recharge and cultivate resilience through deep rest.
